William “Bill” Romanow, 83, of Allentown and Florida, died June 4, 2011. He was the beloved companion of Jacqueline Gawlikowski for the past 30 years. Born in Walnutport, he was a son of the late Stephan and Mary (Tretiak) Romanow. He served his country honorably as a Merchant Marine. He was a welder at the former Bethlehem Steel Corp for 25 years and he was also a self employed building contractor until he retired in 1981. He was of the catholic faith. Bill loved to travel; he loved ballroom dancing, and big bands. He was a member of the Elks and American Legion, both in Florida, and he was a member of the Fearless Fire Company in Allentown. Survivors: companion; daughter, Victoria Schmidt of Bethlehem; son, Eric Romanow of Allentown; step daughter, Ronda Keretz of Bethlehem; Grandchildren, William Schmidt, Shannon, Natasha and Tara Romanow; Great Grandchildren, Holly, Heidi, and Thomas Schmidt, and Charlotte Whitcomb; a sister Anna Zelinsky of Walnutport; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Olga, Stephka, and Helen; and a great granddaughter, Wendy Schmidt.
