William Robert Nicholas

William Robert Nicholas,78, of Emmaus, passed away on May 13, 2020. Born April 3, 1942, he was the son of the late, William M. and Bernadette (McGorry) Nicholas. He graduated from Allentown High School and went on to Palm Beach Junior College, where he was named “Mr. Palm Beach”, and the University of Mississippi (Ole’ Miss), where he studied English and played football. Despite that, he was a lifelong fan of Notre Dame Fightin’ Irish Football. In 1965 he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country honorably in Germany and Italy. He was employed by Interstate Trucking as a terminal manager in Allentown. Following that, he worked for Fowler Williams, in Washington, DC and Preston Trucking Co. in Phillipsburg, NJ. He was a member of the Citizens Hose House in Easton. He was also a long-time member and past President of Lehman Lake Rod and Gun Club in Bushkill, Pa. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, telling stories and cold beer with good friends. He is survived by Sally (Brenner) Nicholas, his wife of 51 years; his daughters: Jennifer, and her husband Peter McAfee of Allentown, and Amanda, and her husband Shaun Koren of Kelinworth, Nj; his three grandchildren: Lily, 14, Noah, 10, and Layla, 10 months. He was predeceased by his sister, Jane Hilton, of Portland, Or. Services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Lehman Lake Rod & Gun Club, 318 Raspberry Run Road, Bushkill, PA 18324.
