William Mccarthy

William J. McCarthy Jr., 93, of Coopersburg, died May 12, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Elaine (Sneed) McCarthy. They celebrated 72 years of marriage this past August. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was a son of the late William J. and Lydia McCarthy. He served his country honorably in the 1st Cavalry Division of the US Army, in the Pacific Theater during WW II. He received the Phillipine Presidential Unit Citation for the Liberation of the Phillipines in 1945. He was an engineer in the corporate office of the former Bethlehem Steel for 43 years before retiring in 1981. Survivors: wife; son, William J. III, of Springfield Twp, Bucks County; daughter, Pamela M. Gallagher, of Orefield, PA; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Bell of Greenwich, CT. He was predeceased by a brother, John, and sisters: Vesta, and Grace. Services: Thursday, 11 a.m., Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1418 Main St., Hellertown.
