Walter Redgate

Walter S. Redgate, 78, of Hellertown and formerly of Bethlehem, PA, and Brockport, Wappingers Falls, and Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Cynthia (Lewis) Redgate. They celebrated 56 years of marriage in June. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was a son of the late Walter S. Sr., and Lillian G. (Penney) Redgate. He served his country in the Army Reserve. Walter retired in 1991 as a Lieutenant for the New York State Department of Corrections after 30 years of service. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Allentown. Walt, or Dad, loved to travel, fish, garden and dance. His wife and family were the most important thing in his life and he will be greatly missed. Surviving with his wife is his daughter, Shari, wife of Lee Cruz of Poughkeepsie, NY; his sons, Kevin and his wife Susana Sandoval Redgate of Randolph, NJ, and Matthew and his wife Rachele DeCrescenzo Redgate of Montvale, NJ; his beloved grandchildren: Matthew, Andrew, Adam, Benjamin, Danielle, and Alanna; his sister, Lillian May Finnegan of Florida and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, October 8, at First Presbyterian Church, 3231 W Tilghman St, Allentown, PA. All are invited to gather at the church from 9 AM until the service begins.
