Walter L. Moyer, 91, formerly of Boyertown, passed away October 6, 2013. Born in Bechtelsville, he was a son of the late Clarence R. and Edna (Herbst) Moyer. Walter served his country honorably as a Navy Seabee stationed in Guam during WWII. He was a member of the American Legion, Post #184, Palm, for 63 years. He was employed at Mack Trucks, retiring in 1984. Walter was an avid bowler, and was selected to the Pottstown Bowling Hall of Fame in 1987. Surviving: are children, Diane, wife of Neil Gery, of Allentown; Laverne Moyer, of Bethlehem; and Carole, wife of James Kemp, of East Greenville; the children's mother, Winifred (Strunk) Moyer, of Red Hill; siblings: Leah, wife of Harry Kulp, of Gilbertsville; Lena, wife or Robert Moyer, of Boyertown; Linwood Moyer, and his wife, Frances, and Robert Moyer, and his wife, Joan, all of New Berlinville; 5 grandchildren: Michael, Michele, Christopher, Jamie, and Jennifer; 7 great-grandchildren: Matthew, Aidan, Ben, Auroroa, Joy, Abby, and Eva; and 1 step-great-granddaughter, Helen. Services: A viewing will be from 6-8 PM on Thursday at the Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory, 163 Main Street, Pennsburg, followed by military services.
