Walter W. Gressley, 87, of Pottstown Avenue, Pennsburg, died September 28, 2009. He was the husband of Jean (Leister) Gressley. They were married 62 years this month. Born in Chapel, he was a son of the late LeRoy and Mabel (Weller) Gressley. He worked for the former Firestone Corp, Pottstown for 31 years. Before that, he was a furniture maker at the former Stokes Co., East Greenville. Since retirement, he worked part time for the Streets Dept. of Pennsburg Borough. He served his country honorably during WWII in the Navy aboard the USS Lexington. He was a member of the Lutheran Congregation of Huffs Union Church, Alburtis. He was a member of the Owl’s Nest # 1302, East Greenville; the Perkiomen Lodge #595, F.&A.M.; the Rajah Temple, Reading; the VFW, Post #5954 , Red Hill; and was a member and former fire fighter of the Pennsburg Fire Co. He also played the clarinet in the Red Hill Band. Surviving with his wife, is a son: Jerry Gressley, and his wife, Carol, of East Greenville; daughters: Janet, wife of Fran McBride, of Easton; and Joyce, wife of Keith Weiss, of Red Hill; 6 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandson. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Pauline. Services: will be on Thursday at 11 AM at the Falk Funeral Home & Crematory, Pennsburg. A viewing will be from 9:30 -11 AM Thursday.
