Wallace Bieler

Wallace H. Bieler Wallace H. Bieler, 62, of Franconia, died April 7, 2008 at Grand View Hospital, Sellersville. He was the husband of Barbara (Bauman) Bieler. They were married 42 years last May. Born in Pottstown, he was a son of the late Henry & Beatrice (Rock) Bieler. He was a 1963 graduate of Upper Perkiomen High School and studied Banking at Ursinus College, Bucknell University, the American Institute of Banking, and The Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University. From 1965 until retiring in January, he was employed in various positions at the Univest Corporation, most recently as Senior Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operation Officer, and Corporate Secretary. Throughout his career, Mr. Bieler was involved in many professional organizations. He was a Past President of the Valley Forge Chapter of the American Institute of Banking; was a Past President of the North Penn-Jersey Chapter of the Bank Administration Institute; and was a member of the Pennsylvania Bankers Association Public Relations/Communications Committee. He was especially involved in the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), where he was a Past President of the North Penn Chapter, was a Director and Past President of the Mid-Atlantic Council IMA; and was a National Director for the National IMA. Mr. Bieler was also very active within his community. He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Pennsburg, where he was the Treasurer. He was the President of the Friends of the Open Line. Previously, he was the Treasurer of the Indian Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Indian Valley Public Library. He was a past Director, Secretary, Treasurer, Executive Committee Member and Board Treasurer for LifePath; and he was a former Chairman of the Fundraising Committee of the Upper Perkiomen Valley Library Association. He was a former Tax Collector and Auditor for Marlborough Township, Montgomery County; and was a former Director and Board Treasurer for the Upper Perkiomen School District. He loved all sports, especially football, basketball, swimming and racquetball. Surviving with his wife, are two daughters: Kim, wife of John Klavon of Sellersville; and Kris, wife of Jim Bardsley, of Gilbertsville; 4 grandchildren, Justine, John, Jacob, and Josh; and a sister, Sandra, wife of Ronald Wiseman, of Trappe. Funeral Services will be on Friday, April 11th at 11AM at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 81 Main Street, Pennsburg. A viewing will be from 9-11 AM on Friday at the church. Interment will follow at New Goshenhoppen Cemetery, East Greenville. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.
