Virginia Skraban, 92, of Bethlehem and formerly of Hellertown, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 2, 2016. She was the wife of the late John J. Skraban who died in 1997. Born in Bethlehem, she was a daughter of the late Pablo and Manuela (Sandoval) Ortega. She was a 1942 graduate of Liberty High School in Bethlehem and was the recipient of an award in recognition of outstanding service to the country at this year’s Graduation Ceremony . During WWII she worked in the #4 Machine Shop of the former Bethlehem Steel Corp and in the Plant Office there. After the war, she worked at the former Western Electric in Allentown and then the former Roller-Smith. Following that, she worked with her husband at the former Skraban’s Garage in Hellertown. Survivors: Daughter, Vanessa, wife of Michael LaPorta Jr. with whom she resided, Sharon, wife of Louis Lazaro of Hellertown; a son, John of Bethlehem; grandchildren: Rodney, Marcus, John III, Dina, Michael III, and Gabriella; great grandchildren, Matteo, Gianna, and John IV; a brother, Bellino of Bethlehem, and a sister, Eleanor Barner of Ft. Hill. She was predeceased by brothers: Paul and David. Services: A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday September 8, at the Falk Funeral Home, 1418 Main St., Hellertown, PA 18055.
