Verlin Allbritton

February 25, 1934 — November 13, 2018

Verlin I Allbritton was born February 25, 1934 to Timothy James Allbritton and Hattie Allbritton (Nugent) in Olla, Louisiana, LaSalle Parish. He married Dhun Mehta in 1988. Verlin was a graduate of Louisiana College with a major in Chemistry. Coming out of a quiet country background, he moved rapidly into a long and adventurous career. He held various positions of increasing responsibility in the food, fats and oils industries with brief interruptions for the draft into the army and a brief stint with medical equipment. The army sent him to Virginia and his employers took him to Houston, TX, Orange County, CA, Memphis TN, Cleveland OH and Chicago IL. Throughout his career he evolved into a quality expert and trouble shooter of manufacturing difficulties, much sought for his expertise. In his final position at Oil Dri of America in Chicago, IL Verlin travelled to almost all states and to numerous countries of Latin America. All his travels did not tire him or stop him from enjoying more traveling for pleasure with his wife Dhun. He was always ready to go with Dhun on her job-related travels and vacation at numerous state and national parks, and site-see in London, UK, China and India. His strong constitution permitted him to gain full enjoyment from hiking and walking. His pleasant, fun-loving generous nature led him to acquire many friends. After his retirement, he and Dhun moved to the Lehigh Valley in PA, from where he continued consulting and taking up home remodeling, gardening and spending endless hours on his computer and of course vacationing. In spite of his various residences and his mobile life, Verlin remained a devoted father to his children, Verlin Allbritton II, of Phoenix, AZ, Vincent Allbritton of Las Vegas, NV, Angela Viva Allbritton, of Nevada, Barbara Coleman of Eugene , OR, Yvonne Maxine Allbritton, of Soccoro, NM and Selene Mehta of Palantine, IL. He was the beloved brother of Elwyn Allbritton of Blue Mountain, MS and the Late Maxine Dearmon. Verlin was a family man and very close to numerous grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, cousins, nephews, nieces and step children, often returning to visit the area of his birth for family reunions. He will be missed and mourned by many.
