Theodore "Ted" Destan, of East Greenville passed away peacefully on January 25, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Delores (Kershner) Destan. They would have been married 60 years in May. Born in Barto, he was a son of the late Matthew and Mary (Evans) Destan. He served his country honorable in the Navy aboard the USS Iowa during WWII. Following his service, he graduated from Bliss Electrical School in Washington DC. He was an electrician, and owned and operated Pennsburg Electric-- first on Main Street in Pennsburg, and then from his home for many years. He and his son worked together from 1978 to the present. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Niantic, where he was a former council member. He was also a member of the Perkiomen Lodge # 595, F.&A.M. Surviving with his wife, is a son Ted, and his wife, Lucy, of Gilbertsville; and a daughter, Linda Destan, of Emmaus; a sister, Bertha, wife of Theodore Geary Jr., of Jonestown, PA, and 4 grandchildren: Tim, Andy, Jessalyn, and Destan. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Jacob, and sisters, Emma and Margaret. Services will be at 11 AM on Friday at the Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory, 163 Main Street, Pennsburg. A viewing will be from 6-8 PM on Thursday and from 10-11 AM on Friday. Contributions may be made in his memory to the Salvation Army.
