Sidney H. Gehris

January 31, 1924 — May 4, 2009

Sidney H. Gehris, 85, of Bethlehem, died peacefully on May 4, 2009 in the home of his daughter, Bonnie, surrounded by his loving family. He waved good-bye to his youngest great grandchild, 18 month old McKenna as he took his last breath. Born in Old Zionsville, he was a son of the late Clarence and Luella Mary (Fretz) Gehris. He was the husband of the late Grace (Tonn) Gehris. He was employed by Air Products of Trexlertown for 35 years, retiring in 1985. Sidney served his country honorably in the 8th Air Force in Europe during WWII. He was a B-17 crewman. He was recently interviewed and videotaped by the World War II Roundtable Organization for the Veterans History Project which will be submitted to the Library of Congress. His joy was his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved all the attention and love they gave him.

Surviving: He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his family: Son, Kerry Gehris, and his wife Christine, of Wilson Borough; Daughters: Cindy, wife of Donald Harris, of Bethlehem Twp.; Bonnie, wife of Stephen Kave, with whom he resided in Bethlehem; and Sherry, wife of Frank Bucsi, of Bethlehem Twp; Brothers: Leon, and his wife, Marlene, of Allentown; and Arden, and his wife Joyce, of Victorville, CA; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by a son, Nicholas, and a brother, Dale.

Services: A celebration of Sidney’s life and happy spirit will be private. The Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory, Hellertown, is in charge of arrangements. On-line condolences may be made at www.falkfuneralhomes.com.
