Sara Jane Frederick

Sara J. (Long) Frederick, 90, passed away on Tuesday, August 15, while under hospice care at Manatawny Manor. Sara was the wife of the late Henry “Buck” Frederick until his death on May 7, 2004. Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of the late Charles I. and Bertha (Van Fossen) Long. Sara was a member of St. John-Hill U.C.C. church in Boyertown. Among her favorite pastimes were cooking and baking. Although too modest to have ever entered them, Sara’s pies and funny cakes would have been blue ribbon worthy at any county fair. More than anything, Sara cherished the time she spent with her beloved family, particularly the children. She spent many years caring for and mentoring many generations of her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Survivors include her daughters: S. Linda Schaeffer of Barto and Patricia (Robert, Jr.) Mest of Boyertown, a son: Scott (Debra) Frederick of Macungie; grandchildren: Stephanie (Ryan) Beltz and Kay (Dean) Eidle, both of Barto, Samantha (Jason) Wawrzonek of Boyertown, Heather (James) Regan of Pottsgrove, Robert Mest III, of Boyertown and Brett Marino of Macungie, 12 great grandchildren, a sister: Kathryn Moore of Schwenksville and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Sara was predeceased by her brothers: Harold and Ernest Long, and sisters: Mary Norris, Nancy McKenrick, Althea Fizz, and Naomi Rose.

Arrangements are private and are being handled by the Falk Funeral Home. Contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
