Our beloved father, grandfather and friend, Rudy Maes, passed away on February 21, 2021. Rudy was a resident of Williams Township since 1995. He was born in Espanola, NM and a graduate of New Mexico State with a BS in Chemical Engineering. He was self made and became a very successful engineer and loved his work. Rudy was a member of the St Theresa of the Child Jesus Parrish in Hellertown. He worked for Rocky Flats Nuclear Weapons Facility, Dow Chemical, Monsanto, Waste Management, the military, UP EPA, ECC, ESMI and Merck and Co. He was an inventor, author and was co-author of seven US Patents. Later in life, he continued his love for engineering working as a consultant. He loved playing music on the guitar and always had a smile on his face. In addition to caring for others , one of his many hobbies was being a triathlete. He completed the Escape from Alcatraz as well as many other triathlons. Rudy is preceded in death by his wife (Barbara “Joan Maes”), mother (Luciana Maes), sister (Francis Vigil), son (Carl Maes) and friend (Mary Yankoos). He leaves behind his children, Tanna (Rob) Taylor, Sue (Richard) Murphy, Chris (Shelly) Maes, Craig (Kim) Maes, Chad Maes, Curt (Laura) Maes, Jessica Maes and Taya Maes, grandchildren Cullen and Kinsey, Rich, Drew, Amy, Kelsey, Courtney, Ariel, Ashley, Dominick and Lynley. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM at St. Theresa of The Child Jesus, 1408 Easton Rd. PA 18055. A Viewing will take place before from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at The Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1418 Main Street, Hellertown, PA 18055.
