Robert J. Nemes, 87, of Center Valley, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 28, 2013. For the past 63 years, he was the husband of Dorothy P. (Richards) Nemes. Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Stephen and Mary (Fistner) Nemes. Robert served his country honorably as a Staff Seargent in the Army serving in the South Pacific during WW II. He was a Technician and retired from the former Bethlehem Steel Corp. where he worked in the Homer Research Center. He was also part time Assistant Caddy Master at Saucon Valley Country Club. After retiring, he was a driver for Seigfried Chauffer Services and he volunteered delivering food for Trinity Episcopal Church Soup Kitchen in Bethlehem. He was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Colesville. Survivors: Wife; Son Robert and his wife Laura of Collingswood , NJ; daughters: Maria Kalbermatten of Orefield, Joan Anderson of Hershey, and Christina Nemes of Bethlehem; a brother, Stephen of Allentown; and grandchildren: Eric Martin, Adam and Aaron Kalbermatten, and Emily and Mikael Anderson. Services: Funeral Mass, 11 a.m., Friday, at Assumption BVM Catholic Church, 4101 Old Bethlehem Pk, Bethlehem, PA 18015. He will be laid to rest privately in Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with full military honors. Contributions: In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to the Hospice of the VNA of St. Luke’s.
