Lt. Col. Robert R. (Bob) Bauman, 95, passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2009, in Williamsburg, VA. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Anna M. (Marsh) Bauman who passed away in 2000. Born in East Greenville, he was a son of the late John K. and Elsie H. (Renninger) Bauman. Lt. Col. Bauman retired with 26 years in the United States Army having served in World War II, the Korean Conflict, and in Vietnam. Prior to his Army career, he was an officer in the Merchant Marine. Bob was a native of East Greenville who became a resident of York County in 1969. Sometime later he moved to Williamsburg, VA, where he resided for 27 years. In the Tidewater area he was fondly known as "Der Burgermeister" a role he thoroughly enjoyed playing at the Festhaus in Busch Gardens. He unwittingly prepared for this role throughout his life with voice training in the United States and Germany; participating in the Allentown (PA) Opera Company and the Peninsula Opera Company; he also played many roles in local theater productions in the US and while living in Wurzburg, Germany where he was stationed for more than three years while in the Army. Survivors: A son, Robert Bruce Bauman and wife, Barbara, of Warner Robins, GA; granddaughters, Amy, wife of Michael Crawford, of St Louis, MO; and Wendy, wife of Richard Feuerriegel of Auburn, AL; great grandchildren, Amanda and Sean Crawford and Richard and Robert Feuerriegel; brothers, Alton Bauman, and wife, Grace, of King of Prussia, PA, and Ernest Bauman of East Greenville, PA; and sisters, Mary Fox of Quakertown, PA, and June, wife of Hugh Custer, of East Greenville; and his caregiver, Nancy Sue Moore, of Seaford, VA. Along with his wife he was pre-deceased by brothers, Paul and Clarence Bauman and sister, Viola Huber. Services: Friday, November 13, at 2:00 P.M. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Pennsburg, PA. Burial will follow in St. Mark's Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Friday from 1-2 PM at church.
