Rita Placotaris

Rita Placotaris, 86, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 19, 2026.  Born on June 26, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Clotilde (Padilla) and Ezekiel deLeon.  She was the loving wife of the late Jame J. Placotaris.  They were married for 51 years prior to his passing in 2014.

Rita was a homemaker and dedicated wife who worked for many years alongside her husband at the family business, Plaky's Bakery, in Fountain Hill.  Rita was a member of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church. Family was Rita's world.  She loved being "Tita" to her grandchildren and cherished the moments when the family was together especially around the holidays. She enjoyed shopping, dancing, music and cooking. She and her husband were regulars at Musikfest and they frequently enjoyed Lehigh Football games. She hosted countless family gatherings and was well known for her homemade, authentic Mexican meals which were loved by all.

She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Michael Placotaris and his wife, Mia of North Whales, PA, John Placotaris of Allentown, PA and Steve Placotaris and his wife, Tonette of Forks Township, PA; grandchildren: Tomasa, Hope, Luke and Evan. Rita was preceded in death by her sisters whom she loved dearly, Esther Palos, Tomasa deLeon, Otilia deLeon, Carmen Cambiotti, Consuelo Bruno, Lillie Urogi, Dolores Gyrom and Linda Cabrera

Services and burial will be held privately.
