Richard Wilson Shook, 90, of Hellertown, passed away Friday, June 19, 2026 at Saucon Valley Manor, Hellertown. He was the husband of the late Barbara Ann (Keblesh) Shook. Rich was born in Hellertown on June 12, 1936 to the late Oscar and Mildred (Edelman) Shook. He was a 1955 graduate of Hellertown High School. Growing up in Hellertown, Rich developed a passion for the game that would follow him throughout his life. He played for the Oakland A's baseball organization system before serving his country in the U.S. Army at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. He had the distinguished role as a driver for Army Generals, demonstrating his commitment to duty and his country. After returning home, he worked as a salesman at the former Bethlehem Steel and then in operations for Merchants Bank until retiring. His legacy in sports was further honored when he was inducted into the Tri-County Baseball Hall of Fame, a testament to his dedication and love for the game. He was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan for many years.
Survivors: children: Diane M. Schultz of Coopersburg, Brian Shook (Derek) of Rehoboth Beach, DE; daughter-in-law: Rosalyn Ratchford-Shook of Alpharetta, GA; grandchildren: Matthew (Kelsey) Schultz, Andrew (Becky) Schultz, Drake Shook; great grandchildren: Addyson, Lillian, Gabriel, Charles and Joseph Schultz.
Predeceased by his son: Richard J. Shook; siblings: Gerald, Lorraine Magyarics, Kathryn Werkheiser, William, Kenneth, & Shirley Cawley.
Richard's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Saucon Valley Manor and Family Pillars Hospice for the compassionate care they provided during his final years.
Service: Family and friends are invited to his viewing 10-11am Friday, June 26, 2026 at the Connell Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. 1418 Main Street, Hellertown followed by a service at 11am. The interment will follow with Military Honors at Union Cemetery of Hellertown. Online condolences can be made at connellfalk.com
