Richard Treffinger, 83, of Green Lane, died December 9, 2011. He was the loving husband of Charleen A. (Reiss) Treffinger. Born in Perkasie, he was a son of the late Floyd and Verna (Kirkpatrick) Treffinger. He served his country honorably in the Army during the Korean War. Richard was a co-owner of Treffinger Brothers Masonry from1953-1975. He was the Chief of Police for Upper Hanover Township from 1960 until 1981. From 1982 until retiring in 1996, he was a Masonry Instructor at the Graterford Prison. After retiring, he was a parts delivery driver for Red Hill Ford. Richard was a member of the Palm Schwenkfelder Church and the Perkiomen Lodge #595, F. & A.M. He was a former scout master for East Greenville Troop #108, was a former Commander of the American Legion, Post #184, Palm, and was a former member of the Montgomery County Chiefs of Police Assn. He was an avid golfer, and was the proud recipient of two Hole-In-One trophies from the Macoby Run Golf Course. Surviving with his wife, is a son Craig, of Green Lane, a daughter, Carol, wife of Vernon Garver Jr., of Lancaster; Siblings: Betty Althouse, of Pennsburg; Marie, wife of Albert Heimbach, of Telford; Floyd, and his wife, Betty, of Red Hill; Donald, and his wife, Ilo, of Green Lane, Edward, and his wife, Helga, of East Greenville and David, and his wife Dyana, of Sicklerville, NJ; 5 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Kenneth. Services will be at 11 AM on Wednesday at the Palm Schwenkfelder Church, 833 Gravel Pike, Palm. A veiwing will be from 9:30-11 AM at the church.
