Richard A. Harold

Richard A. Harold, 69, of Lower Saucon Township, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2026 at Sacred Heart Memory Care, Center Valley. He was the husband of the late Audrey (Wimmer) Harold who died July 30, 2025. He was born in Allentown on April 17, 1957 to the late Ervin and Dolores (Braune) Harold.

Richard was a man of many trades and could build or fix just about anything. He was educated in drafting, electrical, plumbing, machining and cabinet making. Throughout his career, he worked as a mechanical assembler, material handler, and lastly a milling machinist at the former Schiller-Pfeiffer Machine Shop in Emmaus before retiring. Early on, he and his wife also had their own business for many years selling furniture and wood crafts on the weekends at the Pocono Bazaar Flea Market.

He loved hiking, hunting, fishing, camping, woodworking, and gardening. He was always there to lend a helping hand when anyone needed it, even without them asking. In every snowstorm, you could find him clearing a neighbor's driveway with his tractor or fixing something for someone just out of an act of kindness. He was always the jokester in the room, trying to make someone laugh, playing a prank or asking for the lucky lotto numbers if someone asked him if he needed anything else. You could often find him enjoying watching a show about a man living in the middle of nowhere in Alaska, building a log cabin on his own, and hunting and gathering. He had a special love for Montana, where his aunt and uncle had a log cabin alongside the Yellowstone River. Camping and fishing at Wellesley Island State Park on the St. Lawrence River was one of his favorite yearly trips, which later drew him inspiration to buy a plot of land in Hellertown. There, he and his wife built their dream chalet-style home that they would often see on the Thousand Islands in Canada. For many years in the fall, he loved renting a cabin and hiking in Ricketts Glen State Park to see the foliage and waterfalls. Richard also cherished his many dogs he had over his lifetime, going for ice cream, times up at the family cabin in the Poconos and he looked forward each week to playing and trying to win first at a game of Mensch ärgere Dich nicht with his family.


Survivors: children: Eric Harold (Angie) of Brighton, Co, April Saks (Douglas) of Orefield; brothers: John and his wife Sandy of Hellertown, William and his wife Annette Harold of Bethlehem; granddaughter: Allie Eldridge.

Services: Will be private. The Connell Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., Hellertown, is handling the arrangements.
