Richard Anthony Filler, 81, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 3, 2013. He was a retired professional engineer/land surveyor and long term resident of Hershey, PA. After two years in the US Army during the Korean War, Mr. Filler received his BS from Indiana Institute of Technology and then his MS in civil engineering from the Pennsylvania State University in 1970. His previous employers included Bethlehem Steel, Penn State and Centrex-Simpson Construction. His subsequent retirement years were spent traveling with his wife, spending time with his children and grandchildren and collecting coins. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Mary (Matizka) Filler and Frank Filler, two brothers and four sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Mary Ann (Sides) Filler; his daughter, Tracy Anne Filler; his son, Christopher Anthony Filler, and his wife Michelle Marie (Condor) Filler and their daughters, Cassidy Rose and Leia Marie. Richard is also survived by three sisters, Juliette Filler, Kathleen Filler and Anita (Filler) Noonan. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 8, 2013 at 2:00pm in St. Catherin Laboure Parish, 4000 Derry St., Harrisburg PA 17111, with Father Joseph R. Howard as celebrant. Inurnment will be on Saturday, March 9 at 1:00pm in Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem PA. In Lieu of flowers please send donation to the American Heart/Stroke Association, 1019 Mumma Rd., Wormleysburg PA 17043.
