Richard Edwin Evans

Richard E. Evans, 93, of Hellertown, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2023. Richard was married to

his loving wife, Jeanne (Petruny) Evans, where they built their home and resided in Springtown, until she

passed away in 2003. Richard and Jeanne were married for 45 years. He was a beloved son, brother,

uncle, husband, father, friend, and grandfather to all who were fortunate to know him.

Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Sheldon and Evelyn Bush Evans. He graduated high school

in 1948 from Bethlehem High School in the Vocational Course. He served in the United States Air Force

during the Korean War from 1951-1954. He was with the 805 th Supply Squadron and 805 th Air Base

Group, as an munitions technician.

He worked at Bethlehem Steel for 38 years and was a foreman in the Electronics Department for 8 years

before retiring in 1986. He was an active member of the Springtown Volunteer Fire Department for 32

years before retiring in 1994. He was also an avid fisherman and sportsman and enjoyed reading books

on the Civil War and World War II.

He is survived by his daughter, Janice Evans Swah (predeceased Ryan) and his granddaughter, Ashleigh

Swah McMaster (William Travis), great granddaughters Katelyn Elizabeth McMaster and Molly Claire

McMaster. Along with his wife Jeanne, he was predeceased by his parents (Sheldon and Evelyn Bush

Evans) and sister, Elizabeth Grebs.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in his name, at www.stjude.org,

would be greatly appreciated.

All are invited to gather for a celebration of his life beginning at 10 AM with a service at 11:00 AM on September 30, 2023, at the Falk Funeral Home, 1418 Main Street, Hellertown, PA 18055. Interment will follow at Bethlehem Memorial Park.
