Renee Elaine Rousis

Renee E. Rousis, 75, passed away on June 29th, 2023 after a short but valiant battle with cancer. Renee was a career nurse and wife to George Rousis Sr.; together they raised three sons in Bally, PA.

Born August 5, 1947, Renee was an only child who grew up in the Lehigh Valley. She had fond memories of her parents, Arthur and Ruth Hartzell, and her many aunts and uncles. With the help of an excellent math teacher at Quakertown High School, she was well prepared for her goal of attending nursing school. In 1968 she graduated from the Presbyterian School of Nursing in Philadelphia. She lost her father to illness in 1967, but found solace in her Presby sisters. Soon after she married George, who had many brothers and sisters, and was never alone again.

As an RN she worked in Philadelphia, Pottstown, and finished her career back in the Lehigh Valley as a home care nurse for Bayada. But the majority of her professional life was spent at Grandview Hospital in Sellersville. There she enjoyed working with many great nurses. Renee hung up her uniform for the last time in 2013, but continued to lunch with many of her nurse friends on a regular basis.

In her retirement, Renee was active both in the garden and at the YMCA. She was absolutely esctatic to attend the 50 year reunion for the Presby Class of '68.

She is survived by her sons George (Anne Clark),Jeremiah, and Bradley (Crystal Rousis), and her four grandchildren Eleni, Elexi, Logan, and Lilly whom she loved dearly.

Friends and family are invited to attend her memorial service to be held at 2pm Saturday, August 5th at Bally Mennonite Church. Following the service, there will be a potluck luncheon; please feel free to bring a favorite dish along (not required!) to share, celebrate and remember Renee on her birthday.
