Peter Lamana

Peter A. Lamana, 90, Springtown, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2018. Born in Pardeesville, he was a son of the late Gennaro and Mary (Gorga) Lamanna. He served his country honorably in the Marine Corp at the end of WW II. A 1952 graduate of Lehigh University, Pete’s first employment was as a reporter for the Bethlehem Globe-Times. Following that, he taught at Hellertown High Scool and then for the Palisades School District in the 1960’s. Later, he then served as a Teaching Assistant at Lehigh University until 1967. From there, Pete became a Reading Supervisor for the Pennridge School District until 1970 when he became the principal of the Sellersville Elementary School, until his retirement in 1992. Following his retirement, Pete served as a member of the Springfield Township Board of Supervisors for 12 years. Not only a life-long student of Civil War history, Pete passes this life with the satisfaction of watching his beloved Philadelphia Phillies win two World Series. He is survived by his children: Michael A. and his wife Judy, Warrenton, VA, Antionette M., wife of Richard Olivarez, San Fernando, CA, Joseph P. and his wife Jeanne, Purcellville, VA, and Peter J., with whom he resided, and nine grandchildren. He had six siblings: Neil, Bethlehem, Antionette, wife of William Koperna, Coaldale. He was predeceased by his siblings: Philip, Nellie, Frances, and Marie. All are invited to a viewing from 9:30 – 10: 30 AM on Tuesday at the Falk Funeral Home, 1418 Main St., Hellertown, PA 18055. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Hellertown at 11 AM. He will be interred in Springtown Cemetery.
