Millard J. Dillenback, 87, of Macungie, PA, entered eternal rest on December 22, 2010. Born in Chaumont, NY, he was a son of the late Andrew J. and Louise (Millard) Dillenback. Millard served his country honorably in the US Marine Corps in Southeast Asia and then as a Military Policeman during World War II, from 1942 to 1945. He was the Chief of Police for Cape Vincent, NY Police Department for 32 years until he retired in 1984, and was also a bus driver and retired in 1988. He was an American Legion Post Commander, member of the F & AM Lodge 293, Cape Vincent; Chaumont Lodge 172 where he received the “50 Year Pin” in 2007; past Master of Cape Vincent Lodge; dispater for St. Lawrence Seaway, NY; forman for the Cape Vincent Fire Department & Engine Company; Cape Vincent "Eagles"; Chief Constable of Cape Vincent for 54 yrs; served on the Board of Directors for Cape Vincent Correctional Facility as past Treasurer; Special Deputy for Jefferson County Sheriff's Department; served on the Riverside Cemetery Board for 44 yrs, as President for 23 yrs; formed Sea Patrol-1st Skipper, Scout Master Cape Vincent Troop 70; organized & started: 1st Chairman-Cape Vincent Youth Commission Millard is survived by his wife, Madeline Dillenback; a son, Darryl J. Dillenback and his wife Sylvia of Canton, OH. Three grandchildren: Charlotte, wife of William Stevens of South Lyon, MI, Lisa, wife of Daniel Flok of Macungie, PA and Brian Dillenback and his wife Elizabeth of Cary, NC. Five great-grandchildren: Matthew, Caroline, Davis, Garrett and Julia. Two sisters: Audrey Kieff of Cape Vincent, NY and Harriet, wife of Ronald Booth of Seneca Falls, NY, along with 5 nieces and 3 nephews. Services will be held privately. Contributions are suggested in his memory to Riverside Cemetery, Cape Vincent, NY 13618.
