Mary Margaret Bickelman

Mary Margaret (Valousky) Bickelman, 83, of the Pennsburg Manor passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 15th, 2023. She was the long time partner of the late John "Jack" Starr. Born in Shaft, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Tichy) Valousky.

Mary was a graduate of the Fountain Spring Academy. She was a Director of Environmental Services at Manorcare & Doylestown Manor for several years before retiring. Prior to that, she was a receptionist for the Holiday Inn in Kulpsville. Mary enjoyed music and old movies, gardening and bird watching, puzzles and arts & crafts, writing poetry and studying the Bible. She was a member of Grace St. Paul's Methodist Church in Jim Thorpe where she was very active until moving to Pennsburg. More recently, she was involved in the Woofie Ministries. She was lovingly referred to as "Mary Sunshine".

She is survived by children: Carol Ann, wife of Eric Bedford, of Pennsburg, Deborah Dalessio, of Bethel, PA, Lisa Ann, wife of Chapman C. Johnson III, of Coopersburg, Robert Allan Bickelman and his wife, Paula, of Pottstown, and Mark David Bickelman, and his wife Melissa, of Vermont; sisters: Elizabeth Brewer, of West Lawn, PA & Anna Mae Schinkel, of Deer Lake, PA; grandchildren: Samantha, Tamara, Sondra, Brandon, Dwayne, Josh, Christa, Justin, Collin, Elisa, & Dan; and great-grandchildren: Leon, Alyssa, Logan, Dominic, Brittany, and Dillon; and many nieces & nephews. She was pre-deceased by sisters: Dorothy Barrett and Eleanor Kuzmitsky and her ex-husband, Charles E. Bickleman.

A Celebration of Mary's Life will be at 11 AM on Saturday, January 28th at St. Luke's Lutheran Church-Obelisk, 3206 Big Road, Zieglerville, PA. Friends may visit starting at 10 AM at the church.
