Marvin Marks

October 14, 1923 — April 3, 2013

Marvin L. Marks Jr., 89, of East Greenville, passed away peacefully at home on April 3, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Joan (Bieler) Marks. He was the son of the late Marvin and Viola (Greenwood) Marks. He served his country honorably as a Sergeant in the Army Air Corp where he was an Airplane Electrical Mechanic. He also played the clarinet in a Jazz band called the "Sultans of Swing" while in the service. Affectionately known as "Smiley" or "Mort", he followed in his father's footsteps and was the owner and mechanic at the former Smiley's Garage in East Greenville for 50 years before retiring and closing the business in 1996. He was a faithful member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pennsburg. Smiley was an avid outdoorsman and loved deep sea fishing, hunting, and he was an expert skier. He also played the clarinet in several local town bands. Surviving with his wife, is a daughter, Bonadeen, wife of Douglas Thompson of Virginia; a son, Robert and his wife Tina, of Red Hill, a step daughter, Charmaine, wife of James Krauss of Zionsville; grandchildren: Grant, Kelly, Michael, Scott, and Jeffrey; great grandchildren: Gavin, Tesa, Ben, Sam, and Kinsey; and a sister, Violet Bartholomew, of East Greenville. Services: Will be held privately. His arrangements have been entrusted to Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory, Pennsburg. Contributions: May be made in his memory to St. Mark's Church, 81 N.
