Marvin Burd

Marvin E. Burd, 85, of Nazareth, died March 2, 2013 at Lehigh Center, Macungie, PA. Born March 8, 1927 in Belvidere, NJ, he was the son of the late George K. Burd and Amanda L. Thompson of Washington, NJ. He was a graduate of Washington High School in 1944, and an original member of the local Stardusters dance band. Entering the Navy as a Bugler, he served aboard the Franklin D. Roosevelt aircraft carrier CVB-42. He was the official bugler at the ship’s commissioning and served as bugler of President Truman’s honor guard for a short time. All duty was served in the Atlantic Theater. He spent the last 50 years in Architecture in eastern PA, enjoying semi-retirement at 65 years. Surviving: a son, Robert of Wescosville, PA, and one grandson, Joseph. His wife, Diana G. French of Port Murray, NJ, passed on in September of 2004. Services: At his request, there will be immediate cremation and no service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Animals in Distress, P.O. Box 609, Coopersburg, PA, 18036. The Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory, Hellertown, is in charge of arrangements.
