Marlene Rae Rayl previously of Findlay, Ohio died on September 12, 2026 in Allentown, PA at the age of 90. Marlene is survived by her children; her daughter Dr. Marna Rayl Greenberg and son, Brent Rayl as well as her grandchildren, Dr. Garred Greenberg and Dr. Megan Greenberg, her step grandchildren, Greg and Jill and great-grandson, Matthew. She is predeceased by her husband, Bert Rayl.
Marlene was born in Carey, Ohio on October 6, 1935 to Morton Lee and Mable Bame Lee. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Findlay in 1988 but had a career as a piano teacher and church organist that started in 1952. On April 13, 1957 she married Bert Rayl, a middle school teacher. After her graduation from college she added enrolled agent and tax preparation services to her repertoire. She was a math whiz whether it was in accounting or rhythm.
Marlene's passion was music and she inspired a lot of learners. She was a member of the Ohio Music Teachers Association, the Music Teacher's National Association (MTNA) and the Suzuki Association of the Americas. Even at 90 she was still performing at her assisted living facility and bringing joy to those around her. She was a woman of great faith and served for 35 years as the organist at First Christian Church (Findlay, Ohio).
The family will be celebrating her life privately and ask that donations in her memory be offered to the MTNA Foundation Fund (https://www.mtnafoundation.org/) or the University of Findlay. Online condolences may be offered at www.connellfalk.com.
