Malcolm Wehr

Malcolm Clarence Wehr, 96, of Annville, and formerly of Red Hill, passed away August 22, 2013. His wife of nearly 71 years, Anna (Void) Wehr, predeceased him in August 2011. Born in Slatington, Lehigh County on March 6, 1917, he was the only child of the late Clarence B. and Sadie J. (Kern) Wehr. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the 38th Infantry Division from 1943 to 1945. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in action in the Philippines. Malcolm owned and operated a Rawleigh franchise from 1945 until 2005. He was employed as a clerk and store manager for the Pennsylvania State Liquor Control Board, retiring in 1979. As a member of Pennsburg UCC, he taught Sunday School for many, many years, served on Consistory and the Budget Committee and held the office of Financial Secretary. He served on Borough council in Red Hill and was President of Council from 1961 to July 1963 when he resigned to become tax collector, a position he held until 1969. He was a 7th Degree Granger, serving as Master of Valley Grange 1880 for over 40 years. Surviving is a daughter, Meredith Ernesto of Lebanon, PA; a son, M. Scott (Paula) of Ormond Beach, FL; granddaughters Sue (Brian) Beaver of Salisbury, MD and Jill (William) Garland of Harrisburg, PA and four great grandchildren. Services: A memorial service will be held at Pennsburg United Church of Christ on Tuesday, September 3 at 11:30 a.m. The Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory, Pennsburg, is in charge of arrangements.
