Lynnette Delores Rochester, firstborn child of the late Eric and Shirley Rochester, was born on December 5, 1959, in Sanford, FL. After arriving in Brooklyn, NY as a young baby, Eric and Shirley had three boys, Fred, Larry, and Jeffrey. Lynnette received the Lord Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior and was water baptized at Zion Baptist Church, Brooklyn, NY, under the leadership of the late Reverend Dr. Benjamin James Lowry. Lynnette graduated from Sarah J. Hale High School and she earned an Associates Degree. She loved to type and briefly started a typing business. Like her mother, she loved to cook, and she would make great dishes for us to enjoy. She also loved to crochet, and read many books on the Bible, including prayer. After marrying Gerald Davis, she gave birth to her pride and joy, and beloved son, Reginald Altman Davis on July 24, 1994. Her late mother was an excellent singer and Momma Shirley would sing with her sisters around the churches in Blacksburg, VA. The apple didn’t fall far from the tree. Lynnette loved to sing. Should we be surprised? Lynnette sang in the Evelyn Lowry Choir at Zion Baptist Church, in Brooklyn, NY. From there she went to New Life Ministries in Hempstead, NY, under the leadership of Dr. Katherine Corbett. After a while, she joined Prevailing Word Ministries, under the leadership of Pastors Fred and Valeria Rochester. She was licensed to preach. She served faithfully as an intercessor, and she served on the praise and worship team at Prevailing Word. Lynnette loved the Word of God and she loved to pray, and seek God. Living in Brooklyn NY most of her life, she, along with her brothers, moved from Brooklyn. Lynnette moved to Pennsylvania to live in her first house. After a lengthy illness, Lynnette succumbed to sarcoma, a rare cancer, on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at 6PM at St. Luke’s Hospice in Bethlehem, PA. Her heart sailed further from the shores, to a place where she will treasure Him for who He is. She is before the face of Jesus, singing to the One she had placed her faith and love in. Yes, she is praising her Savior all the day long, where everyday is Son-day, where the sabbath will have no end. We will miss her beautiful smile, soft, but powerful singing voice, and her friendship. Left to cherish her memory and awaiting a grand reunion is her beloved son, Reginald, her beloved siblings, Fred, Larry, and Jeffrey, her beloved sister in law Valeria, her beloved niece, Sheryl, her beloved cousins, Peggy, Margie, Bill, Anthony, and Monica, and a wealth of beautiful, loving relatives, and precious friends.
