Louis Conner

February 28, 1920 — August 7, 2007

Louis M. Conner passed away peacefully in his home on August 7, 2007. He was the son of Maxwell Bowman Conner and Mayda May (Schmitt) Conner. Born in Bethlehem Pa, on Feb. 28, 1920, he enlisted in the Marine in 1939 and was stationed in North Africa. He was then stationed in Cuba, where he helped build Guantanamo Bay. He was medically discharged from the Marines but re-enlisted in the Navy in 1942 and served on the U.S.S. Bogue as an aircraft mechanic. After returning home he worked for the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation as a crane operator for 30 years before retiring. He was a private pilot with many take-offs and landings at the old Bethlehem Airport. He also had a love for auto racing and helped found the Warhampton Motor Club. He was known as Mr. Fix-it to his friends for his ability to fix just about anything. He will be remembered, loved and missed greatly by friends and family. God bless you Louie.
