Leonard Charles Haas

Leonard C. Haas, 85, of Hellertown, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, March 1, 2025. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Joseph and Cecelia (Graf) Haas. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 39 years, Shirley (Zsapko) Haas, who passed away in May of 2000.

Leonard was a proud member of the United States Army, serving in the Airborne Division and earning the distinguished title of Green Beret as part of the Special Forces. He worked as a carpenter for many years at the Bethlehem Steel Company. After retiring, he started his own business, LCH Construction, where he spent many hours working with his boys. He was a proud and devoted father. He loved the outdoors and spent much of his time hunting and fishing. He was a member of the White Haven Sportsman’s Club in White Haven, PA and spent many weeks in Canada fishing with his close friends.

Surviving are his children: Kevin L. Haas, husband of Deborah A., Kerry J. Haas, and Ryan L. Haas, husband of Jennifer M., grandchildren: Andrew C., and Matthew R., siblings: Kenneth G. Haas (Kathleen), Carol A. Buttillo (Vince), Gerald L. Haas (Mari), and Barry D. Haas II; and many nieces and nephews. Along with his wife Shirley, he was predeceased by his siblings: Joseph R., Barry D., and Nancy J Kemmerer. He was also predeceased by brother-in-law Harold Kemmerer and sister-in-laws Elaine Haas and Roberta Haas.

There will be a Memorial Service at 10:30 am on Friday March 21, 2025, at the Falk Funeral Homes, 1418 Main St. Hellertown, PA 18055. All are invited to gather at 9:30 am at the Funeral Home with interment to follow at the Union Cemetery of Hellertown.
