Lee A. Weidner, 77, of Hellertown, died Sunday, October 2, 2022, surrounded by family. Born January 9, 1945, in Bethlehem, PA, he was the son of the late Guy and Beatrice Weidner. He graduated from Hellertown High School, Ursinus College, and Kutztown University with degrees in English, History, and a Master’s in Education. Lee was an English teacher for Nazareth School District. He was passionate about Hellertown and worked diligently to preserve its history. After retiring, he became a local historian, authoring and contributing to several published books and numerous articles. His role as an activist helped preserve the Thomas Iron Works Cinder Banks from development and to increase pedestrian safety along Main Street in Hellertown. His infectious laughter and selflessness will be forever remembered.
Survivors: He is survived by his six children, Christopher Chandler (Angela), Lorilee Lambert, Andrew Chandler (Anna), Lynn Weidner (Brandon Kingsmore), Robert Weidner (Monica Salazar), and Laura Weidner; and eight grandchildren.
Services: Memorial Service will be held at Falk Funeral Home, 1418 Main St. Hellertown, on Friday, October 14th. Calling hours are from 5 to 6 pm, followed by a brief service and opportunity to reflect from 6p to 7p.
