Lawrence (Larry) F. Hilliard – December 17, 1945 to December 2, 2014, age 68, born in Butler, PA, son of Ralph and Helen (Sarver) Hilliard, survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Hazel, and stepdaughters: Dawn Jasinski, Kathryne Wilson, and Erin Moeller plus 5 grandchildren: Aidan, Isabella, Katie, Carter, and Emma. He was predeceased by his brother, Donald. Larry was a graduate of Grove City College and received his MBA from Lehigh University. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, and having served on the U.S. Norris, was considered a “tin can” sailor. Following his time in the Navy, he was employed by Air Products & Chemicals, Inc., where he had a 35-year career in corporate finance. After he retired from Air Products, he was appointed as Lehigh County Director of Administration and later served as Finance Director for the City of Allentown from 2006-2010. Larry was known for his kind, gentle ways and financial expertise. He was a history buff, avid reader, and knowledgeable on many topics. Although retired, Larry continued to support the City of Allentown in many capacities—as chairman of the Allentown Parking Authority and as a member of the Allentown Redevelopment Authority, Allentown Pension Board, Habitat for Humanity Real Estate Committee and Lehigh Valley Active Life Board. He enjoyed his community and was a season ticket holder for the Iron Pigs, Allentown Symphony Orchestra, and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Besides being proud of his family and community, Larry valued his Masonic affiliation. He was a 32 Mason and active member of Jordan Martin Lodge No. 673, Valley of Allentown, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, and was honored with the presentation of the Meritorious Service Award.
