Lawrence Drobny, 98, of Harleysville and formerly Old Saybrook, CT, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026. He was the husband of the late Patricia (Forward) before her passing in 2014. Lawrence was the son of the late H. William and Hazel Crawford Drobny.
After his time in the Navy, Lawrence went on to become an aircraft engineer, working for Pratt and Whitney before retiring to the Connecticut seashore. A true man of the outdoors, he enjoyed fishing, biking, kayaking, sailing, and engaging in racquet sports such as tennis and badminton. He was still biking daily until he was 92, and attributed his long life to staying active. Additionally, he had a passion for model airplanes and wood carving, hobbies that showcased his creativity and love for craftsmanship. He was also a member of the Order of the Elks and a longtime member of the First Church of Christ in Saybrook.
Lawrence is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Croll and her husband Robert, of Red Hill; grandchildren, Lawrence, Jessica, Kirsten, and Kyle; and great-grandchildren, Makayla and Oliver. He was predeceased by his son Stephen.
A service will be announced at a later date. He will be interred with his wife in Connecticut.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations made in Lawrence's memory to Doctors Without Borders (https://www.doctorswithoutborders.org/get-involved/ways-to-give) or to the Shoreline Soup Kitchen and Pantries (https://donatenow.networkforgood.org/SSKP). His spirit will always be a part of the countless moments shared and cherished by those who knew him.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Falk Funeral Home & Crematory, Pennsburg.
