Karen Ann Starwood

Karen Ann Starwood, 67, of Bethlehem, passed away July 12, 2022. She was the beloved wife of George H. Fairchild. They were married 45 years this past January. Born in Mineola, NY, she was a daughter of the late William and Helen (Valenta) Starwood. Karen received a BA in Biology from SUNY Oswego, NY. She enjoyed reading (especially murder mysteries), listening to the Beatles, swimming, dancing, playing bridge, playing tennis, and sailing on Long Island Sound with her dad. She fought the devastating disease of myotonic muscular dystrophy through much of her adult life with incredible courage, humor, and grace. She was deeply loved by all who knew her, and she touched the lives of many with her warmth and love. Surviving with her husband is a son, Augie Fairchild, of Charlottesville, VA; and a sister, Janet Starwood, of Wyncote, PA. Services will be private. Her ashes will be scattered off of the coast of Jones Beach, NY at a later date.
