Joycelyn M. Friedman, 85, formerly of Easton died November 2, 2011 at Walden III Assisted Living in Wind Gap, PA. She was the wife of the late Franklin O. Thornton. Born on March 25, 1926, in Easton, PA, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth K. and Pearl (Switzgable) Searles. She attended Easton High School and worked for Dixie Cup in Easton and J. T. Baker Chemical Company in Phillipsburg, NJ. She was also an assistant to Pearl Burns of Home Interiors for many years and enjoyed caring for her children as a homemaker. She was a member of College Hill Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her sons: David and his wife Diane of Upper Mount Bethel and Marc and his wife Michele of Macungie. Grandchildren: Daniel, Deanna, Amber, Gage, and Tallia; sisters Jackie Price of Bethlehem, Dorothy, wife of Richard Smith, and Joan Price both of Easton. She was predeceased by a brother Kenneth. A graveside service will be held at Northampton Memorial Shrine, Green Pond Road, Easton, PA, on Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 11:00 am.
