Joseph John Jacobes, affectionately known as "Pop," passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 12, 2026, at the age of 79.

Born on August 23, 1947, in Philadelphia, Joe was the son of the late Anthony and Rose (Garibaldi) Jacobes. He was raised behind the family diner, affectionately known as Star Lunch or Rose's Luncheonette, where his story began.

Joe was the devoted husband of Helen (Schauinger) Jacobes. Together, they shared 49 years of marriage before her passing in 2022.

After graduating from high school, Joe honorably served his country in the United States Army as artillery, earning numerous medals during his service. Following his military service, he became a journeyman electrician. He later worked for Lord & Taylor's, then Quakertown Community Hospital until downsizing led to his departure. He went on to work for Sunoco as a Vapor Recovery Technician in the pipeline, later Energy Transfer Solutions, where he remained until retiring from full-time work in May 2026.

A lifelong tinkerer with a love for working with his hands, Joe enjoyed spending time in his woodshop and machine shop, always finding something to build, repair, or improve. He also enjoyed attending antique engine shows, where he could indulge his appreciation for machinery and craftsmanship. In addition to his many interests, Joe had a love for photography. He appreciated the opportunity to capture moments and preserve memories, creating lasting reminders of the places and experiences that made life special to him.

Although Joe may not have always found it easy to express his feelings, his love for his family ran deep. In a heartfelt moment shared with a close family member at his grandson's wedding just three weeks before his passing, Joe expressed how proud he was of his family and how much he loved them, even if he didn't always know how to show it. Those words serve as a lasting reminder of the love and pride he carried in his heart for the people who meant the most to him.

Joe is survived by his sons, Tony and his wife, Melanie, and Jason; and his grandchildren, Zachariah, Nicholas and his wife, Alexus, and Abygail. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen; his parents, Anthony and Rose; and his uncle, Dominic.

Joe will be remembered for the life he lived, the skills he shared, his many interests, and his quiet but deep love for his family. Like the photographs he cherished, the memories he created and the moments he shared with those he loved will remain treasured for generations to come.
