Joseph W. Franzone, 80, of James Street in Norristown, passed away peacefully with his family at his side at Mercy Suburban Hospital on October 5, 2010. He was the beloved husband of M. Anna (Young) Franzone. Born in Norristown, he was a son of the late Samuel and Josephine (DeJohn) Franzone. He was one of the founding brothers of the famous “Franzone’s Pizzeria” in Bridgeport. They began in the early 1970’s and although he officially retired in 1988, the business was still a part of him. He was an avid golfer and many will remember him from his spot on his front porch where he fed the squirrels and greeted all who passed his way. Along with his wife, Joe is survived by a son, Dean and his wife, Denice, of Norristown ; and their two sons, Joseph Ryan and Shane Michael who were both his beloved grandchildren; a son Joseph and a daughter Joanna and their children and grandchildren; brothers, Louis of Norristown and Charles “Buck” of Plymouth; and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 81 N. Main Street, Pennsburg, PA 18073. The service will be officiated by Rev. William A. Fluck, Pastor Emeritus of the church. A visitation will be held from 9:30 – 11 a.m. on Friday in the church parlor. Interment will follow the services in St. Mark’s Cemetery, Pennsburg. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Joe’s memory to the church. The arrangements have been entrusted to Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory, Pennsburg.
