Joseph Cassarella

Joseph R. Cassarella, 77, of Perkiomenville, passed away February 26, 2015. He was the beloved husband of Theresa (Puhak) Cassarella. They were married 54 years in July. Born in Hazleton, he was a son of the late Joseph & Anna (Corby) Cassarella. Joseph was a graduate of Kings College, where he was a past president of the Chemistry Club. He was employed at Cabot Corporation from 1961-2002, where he was the Quality Control Manager. Joseph was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Pennsburg. He was a past Grand Knight of the Father Letterhouse Council of the Knights of Columbus and the comptroller of the Archbishop Sheen Assembly, Stowe. He was a member of the American Chemistry Club for over 50 years. Surviving with his wife, are children: Joseph, and his wife, Cynthia, of Hamden, CT; Gregory, of Madisonville, TN; David, of Barto; and Lise, wife of Christopher Leonard, of Ambler; sisters: Dolores Cassarella, of Hazleton; and Elaine, wife of Frank Schmidt, of West Hazleton; and 5 grandchildren: Anthony (A.J.), Alyssa, Ashley, Casey John, and Zachary. He was predeceased by siblings: Theresa Williams, Marion Petrilla, and Vincent Cassarella. A Funeral Mass will be at 11 AM on Wednesday at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 1325 Klinerd Road, Pennsburg. A viewing will be from 9:30-11 AM Wednesday at church.
