John A. Remenar Sr., 95, formerly of Bethlehem, passed away June 5, 2017. He was the husband of the late Helen E. (Hrin) Remenar. John and Helen had one son, John Jr., who currently lives in Denver, CO. Born in Troop, he was the son of the late Andrew and Amelia (Varady) Remenar. John worked for the USPS for over 30 years until his retirement. He also worked for the Bethlehem Steel Co. for many years before entering WWII. During the war, John served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a pilot on B-24 bombers. He flew many successful missions and was decorated for bravery and heroism. After the war, he had his own auto service station, Midway Service, in Fountain Hill, before going to work for the USPS. John was a member of Incarnation of Our Lord Catholic Church in Bethlehem.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, June 14 at the church, 617 Pierce Street, Bethlehem. Friends may call at church on Wednesday from 10-11 AM. Interment will be at Bethlehem Memorial Park.
