John K. Laberteaux, 90, of Bethlehem and Lake Wallenpaupack, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2016. He was the beloved husband of Margaret (Entwisle) Laberteaux. They celebrated 27 years of marriage in August. Born in South Bend, IN, he was the son of the late Harold and Miriam (Kobler) Laberteaux. He served his country honorably in the Navy during WWII and retired as a as a Lieutenant Commander in the reserves after serving for 30 years. He received his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He worked as a Chemical Engineer for the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation for over 20 years before retiring in 1983. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Bethlehem for 56 years where he was a member of a K Group. He was also a private pilot and member of Ye Anciente and Secret Order of Quiet Birdmen. For many years, he ran the Leverington Cemetery in Roxborough. Survivors: Along with his wife Margaret, he has three children, Jan Abbott and her husband Paul and their daughters Bryn Miller, Kelsey Abbott and Devon Abbott; Judy Laberteaux and her son Rubens Albanese; and Jeff Laberteaux and his wife Colleen and their son Quinn; his step-children, Robin Bestel and her daughter Ashley, Radune Mautz and her three children, Megan Kochin, and Megan's daughter Elliott; Joseph Mautz and Maureen Mautz; and her children, Jude, Sadi, Noah, and Nicole; Randi Mautz and her husband James and their daughter Elizabeth and son James, and Cyndy Enger and her sons Richard and Jason. Services: A Memorial Service will be held at 4:30 PM, on Friday at First Presbyterian Church, 2344 Center St, Bethlehem, PA 18017 where all are invited to gather from 3:30.
