John David Adams

May 31, 1941 — October 30, 2023

John D. “Jack” Adams, 82, of Pennsburg, passed away peacefully at his home on October 30, 2023, with his beloved wife, Cheryl, and their dog, Obi, by his side. He was cherished and deeply loved by both. Born in Webster, MA, he was a son of the late Stephen John and Virginia Alice (St. Germaine) Adamowicz.

Jack was a graduate of the Coast Guard Academy, in New London, CT. After which, he had a long and distinguished career with the Coast Guard, serving as an executive officer and commanding officer on several ships. After obtaining a master's degree in financial management, he concluded his career in the Coast Guard as Chief, Comptroller Division in Mobile, AL, St Louis, MO, and finally Miami, FL where in 1984, he retired as a Commander (0-5).

Following a more than 21-year active-duty career with the Coast Guard, Jack continued to serve his country as a civilian, working for the Navy Exchange Command, the USCG Exchange System and finally, with the Federal Transit Administration in Washington, DC until fully retiring in 2004.

As is the case with a military and civilian career, Jack lived in many different areas. Additionally, after retirement, Jack traveled to such places as London, Paris, Denmark, Alaska, and Costa Rica. He and Cheryl lived and traveled all across the United States while Cheryl was working as a travel nurse. He especially loved to travel in the western United States and Florida. However, through all of his travels and adventures, New England was home. Born in Massachusetts, growing up in Maine and Connecticut, he loved lobster, the Red Sox, and of course, “chowda”. Jack was a New Englander through and through.

Jack loved to read. He always had a book in his hands or nearby. He was especially fond of historical books and has an extensive collection of first additions. He also enjoyed sailing, photography, music and biking.

Jack was an endearing, loving man who brought joy to everyone who knew him. He always had a smile on his face, a twinkle in his eye and a kind word for all. From the moment he met Cheryl, it was evident to everyone around him, he had found his “true north”. Together, they made memories and shared a deep love for each other. He loved family and spending time with his children and siblings.

Surviving are his wife, Cheryl (Constanzer), children: Kim (Ken) Koran, of Monee, IL, David Adams, of Frederick, MD, and Kathleen Adams, (Frank Otley), of Arlington, VA; Grandchildren: Kyle, Matt, Conor, and Harper; Siblings: Jane Williams, widow of Earlon, of Nashua, NH, and Peter (Mona) Adams, of Half Moon Bay, CA; a sister-in-law, Leslie Adams, of Coronado, CA; brother-in-law Larry (Mary Ann) Constanzer of South China, ME; several loving and loved nieces and nephews; and his previous wife: Kendra Adams, of Virginia Beach, VA; dear friend Sheril Keeler. He was pre-deceased by his brother, Tom Adams.
