Johanna "Toot" Blumetti passed away on December 6, 2025 at the age of 92 in Hellertown, PA. Johanna, formerly of Mays Landing, NJ enjoyed retirement in Las Vegas, NV after having raised her four children in NJ. She was the wife of the late Andre Francis Blumetti who predeceased her on January 26, 2011. She was mother to Diane Fruhmann, Linda Orey, Ruth Miller and Andrew Blumetti. And also grandmother to Michael Post, Michelle Orey, Christopher Famularo, Doug Orey, AJ Gallo, Joseph Famularo, Ahsley Miller, Tyler Miller, Sebastian Blumetti and Avery Blumetti.
Johanna was born in Lodi, NJ on October 21, 1933 to the late Anthony, Sr. and Marie (DeBonte) Manzo and grew up on a small dairy farm with her parents, maternal grandparents and three siblings. She graduated from Lodi High School and briefly worked as a legal secretary in Passaic, NJ until she married a young Marine Corps Sargeant named Andre "Andy" Blumetti. She met Andy while maintaining a "pen pal" relationship with a former high school chum who also enlisted in the Marines during the Korean War and who introduced her to Andy while the two were home on leave. The couple married on November 1, 1952 and moved into a small apartment in Garfield, NJ where they had their first child, Diane. As their family continued to grow the pair moved to Edison, NJ and ultimately settled in Clifton, NJ where they raised their three girls and one boy until they all left home to forge lives of their own. It was during this time in Clifton where the two would vacation frequently to Las Vegas, which led to them ultimately retiring there in 1989. The couple truly enjoyed retirement in the desert. Frequent family visits ranged from grandchildren spending weeks during summer vacations to college kids sleeping on floors during spring break. The Blumetti pad was always open, always full of food...and ALWAYS CLEAN...a little too CLEAN if you wanted to sleep in, as the sound of a vacuum cleaner was never too far off!
The couple remained in Vegas for nearly two decades until the decision was made to return back to the east coast as Andy's health began to fail and the desire to be closer to family pulled them home. So in 2002 they relocated back to NJ and settled in Mays Landing just outside of Atlantic City. It was during this time of caring for her beloved husband that Toot would seek respite at the slots of Harrahs Atlantic City in order to feel at home again like the life in the desert they so enjoyed. Everyone knew her there and she was also well taken care of. A regular at those penny slots in Atlantic City, Toot enjoyed the thrill of the game and the camaraderie of her friends there. In fact, to honor her daily visits, The Diamond Club restaurant even named a chicken soup after her!
Did she live life to its fullest? Who's to say, but she certainly put the comfort and care of others ahead of hers on a daily basis. Ane if you asked her what her hobby was (outside of the casino of course), I'm sure she would say her family. Words to describe her are always "one of a kind", "a firecracker", "a piece of work", "a pistol", etc. etc. etc. Toot was not someone to suffer fools lightly and she will surely be missed. So, on December 6 2025 she was reunited with her Marine who was probably waiting for her with a pile of laundry and wondering what took her so long!
Surviving her are her children: Diane (Robert) Fruhmann of Manalapan, NJ, Linda (Warren) Orey of West Palm Beach, FL, Ruth Miller of Allentown, PA, Andrew (Amy) Blumetti of New York, NY; along with her "adoptive" daughter Kelly (Don) Williams of Clifton,NJ; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren. Predeceased by her siblings: Casey Manzo, Jeannette Solari and Anthony Manzo, Jr.
