Jasper A. Torchia Jr., 78, of Center Valley, Pennsylvania, passed away unexpectedly on January 22, 2021 due to Covid-19 complications. The son of Jasper A. and Lena (Isadore), Jasper was born and raised in Johnsonburg, Elk County, Pennsylvania. He received a BS in Industrial Arts from the University of California, Pennsylvania. After college, Jasper began his career as a high school industrial arts teacher. He then moved on to plant management at Bonney Forge and Allied Piping. In the mid-1980s, he pivoted his career focus to real estate, which he pursued with gusto and passion, and from which he never truly retired. Over the past few years, his son Jeffrey has taken over the business, carrying on the legacy Jasper paved at Preferred Properties in Coopersburg. An active member of the Upper Saucon Lions Club for 37 years, Jasper was engaged in fundraising and charitable activities, such as the Lions Club Flea Market. He also helped out at Camerata Singers concerts, in which his wife Christiane sings. Always with an eye for detail and precision, one of Jasper’s favorite activities was golfing with his good friends and colleagues. He also adored spending time with his three grandchildren, never failing to come up with creative projects to work on together. Jasper was a vibrant, energetic, and generous member of the community and his family. His creativity and exuberance were surpassed by none, and for that he is truly a superhero to all who knew him. One of the recent text messages Jasper sent to friends and family members was, “be positive, stay negative.” Jasper leaves behind his wife, Christiane, of 54 years, sons Michael of Harrisburg, PA and Jeffrey of Coopersburg, PA and daughter Erika of Frankfurt, Germany. Also surviving are his sisters, Theresa Ann Walkiewicz of Erie, PA and Candida Vickers of Canton, GA and grandchildren Casey, Zack, and Alex. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph of Napa, CA. The funeral will be kept to immediate family only, but there will be a celebration of his life planned for a more public gathering at a later, safer date. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to the Upper Saucon Lions Club, who are actively involved in local charities: PO Box 144, Coopersburg, PA 18036.
