Jan W. Nelms, of Walnut Tree Drive, Blandon, passed away July 3, 2014 two days short of his 74th birthday. He was the beloved husband of Lois (Hammond) Nelms. They were married 29 years on June 22nd. Born in Nanticoke, he was a son of the late Joseph and Jane (Williams) Nelms. Jan served in the US Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a graduate of the Valley Forge Christian College. Jan was a collector for Wells Fargo Financial before retiring. He is a member of the Fleetwood Bible Church. Jan was a very active ministerial volunteer in Assembly of God churches in Spring City and Wilkes-Barre, as well as at Manatawny Manor in Pottstown, and with the Philadelphia Teen Challenge. He was also a volunteer chaplain at the Reading Hospital & Medical Center; Sacred Heart Medical Center, West Chester; and at St, Luke's Hospital. Bethlehem. He was an avid photographer and birding enthusiast. He also enjoyed collecting coins and stamps. Jan is survived by his wife, and a sister, Sybil, of Nanticoke. Services will be at 11 AM on Tuesday at the Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory, 163 Main Street, Pennsburg. A viewing will be from 10-11 AM. Burial will follow at New Goshenhoppen Cemetery, East Greenville. Contributions may be made in his memory to the Valley Forge Christian College, 1401 Charlestown Road, Phoenixville, PA 19460.
