James L. Balliet

James Lowell Balliet, age 85, of Springtown PA, died on July 28, 2021 at Phoebe Richland Health Care Center. He was born July 1, 1936 in Quakertown, PA to Edna (Cressman) Balliet and James Russel Balliet. Jim grew up in Springtown, PA, and earned his Bachelors Degree at Muhlenburg College Allentown, PA. After five years of service as an officer in the Navy, Jim worked in sales, then at Palisades School District for over twenty years before retiring. Jim also volunteered for thirty years at Silver Creek Athletic Association in Springtown, PA, where he coached, kept meticulous records as financial secretary, managed provisions for the Club, and performed grounds maintenance. Jim was well loved and respected by his family, neighbors, community, and caregivers. He was an avid reader and had a commanding knowledge of history and geography. Jim was generous, thoughtful, humble, and loved food - all kinds! He is known for his captivating stories, sense of humor, and ability to expound on almost any subject. He also had a few eccentricities, and one of his favorite sayings was, "I'll do it tomorrow." Jim is survived by his brother Glenn Lee Balliet, and cousins Robert (Sandy) Balliet, and William (Terri) Balliet. On Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at 12 noon there will be a brief graveside service for James Balliet at Springtown Cemetery. Unvaccinated attendees are requested to wear masks and maintain physical distancing. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to Silver Creek Athletic Association or Christ Lutheran Evangelical Church, both in Springtown, PA.
