J.Howard Shelly, 78, of Zionsville, died May 7, 2011 on his farm. He was the husband of Claire D. (Miller) Shelly. They celebrated 51 years of marriage in April. Born in Palm, he was the son of the late Irwin and Ada (Fisher) Shelly. As a young man, he was a stockperson at the former Hess's Department Store, Allentown. He was a lifelong farmer; as well as a Doebler's seed salesman for over 30 years. He was a member of Palm Schwenkfelder Church, where he was a former usher. He was a former member of the Upper Perkiomen Christian Endeavor. He was a Hauptman of Grundsow Lodge #7, East Greenville. He was a member of the Lehigh County Farm Preservation Board; and was a Republican Committeeman for Lower Milford Twp.. He was a former Board Member of the Lehigh County Farmer's Assn, the Lower Milford Zoning Board, and the PA Pork Producers Board. Surviving: Wife; Children: Jonathan Shelly, and his wife, Terry, of East Greenville; Timothy Shelly, and his wife, Brenda, of Palm; Carol, wife of Carl Tankred, of Palm; Sally, wife of Jeffrey Tankred, of Zionsville; and Lois Shelly, of Boyertown; and 6 grandchildren: Katie, Jeffrey, Samantha, James, Tyler, and Matthew. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Ida Mae Shelly. Services: will be at 11 AM on Thursday at Palm Schwenkfelder Church, 833 Gravel Pike, Palm. A viewing will be from 6-8 PM on Wednesday at the Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory, 163 Main Street, Pennsburg, and from 10-11 AM on Thursday at the church. Interment will be in the Hosensack Schwenkfelder Meetinghouse Cemetery. Contributions: To either the church or the American Cancer Society.
