Irma Verba, 91, of Hellertown, died May 2, 2012. She was the beloved wife of Joseph J. Verba. They were married on February 18, 1957 and celebrated 55 years of marriage. Born in Bethlehem, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Feher) Simon. Gifted with a quick mind and a keen intelligence, Irma loved puzzles of all kinds, especially word jumbles and crossword puzzles. She was also a talented seamstress known to sew many articles of clothing and even drapery. She was employed for many years in the clothing manufacturing business, as a retail sales person at the former Hess's Department Store, and as a telephone sales operator for Sears. A life-long Democrat, she was proud to be a Democratic Committee Woman in her early years. She was a member of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church, Hellertown. Survivors: husband; a daughter, Linda Heck, of Coopersburg; a son, Richard Verba and his wife Barbara, of Whitehall; grandchildren: John Heck, Lydia Heck, Heather, wife of Christopher Parrillo, and Lori Verba; and three great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by siblings: Elizabeth Chromczak, Goldie Koch, and William Simon. Services: A Funeral Mass will be 10 AM on Monday at the church. All are invited to a viewing at the Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1418 Main St., Hellertown, from 8:30-9:30 AM on Monday. Interment will be at Union Cemetery, Hellertown.
