Ida Barr

June 23, 1919 — January 7, 2014

Ida E. "Betty" Barr, 94, formerly of Perkiomenville, passed away January 7, 2014 at Frederick Living. She was the widow of John T. Barr. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late David and Fanny (Philips) Tyson. Betty was employed at the former Food Fair in Pottstown, and then the former Pantry Pride in Quakertown for over 25 years. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Collegeville where she belonged to the choir and the Over 50's Club, taught sunday school, and volunteered for the oyster suppers and the Outreach House. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels. She was a member of the Senior Citizens Center of Upper Perkiomen and Harleysville, enjoying walking and swimming. Betty loved to knit. Surviving are children: John P. "Jack" Barr, of Port Allegany, and his companion Anna Potter; James Barr, and his wife Kay, of Bechtelsville, June Pinnick of Lee Summit, MO; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. She was predeceased by an infant son; her grandson, Scot; and a son-in-law, Donald Pinnick. Memorial Services will be at 12pm, Friday, January 17, 2014 at the St. James Episcopal Church, 3768 Germantown Pike, Collegeville, PA 19426. Friends may call from 11am -12pm at the church. Interment will follow the service. Contributions: may be made to St. James Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, 3768 Germantown Pike, Collegeville, PA 19426.
